Healing requires peace and quiet. A hospital needs good sound insulation.
In the heart of the Swedish capital, on the island of Södermalm, the traditional Ersta Sjukhus hospital has been expanded with a modern new building. Located directly on the busy Folkungagatan street, the new building combines state-of-the-art medical infrastructure with a sensitive architectural concept – in the midst of an urban environment and with high demands on comfort, functionality and peace and quiet.
A central element of modern hospitals is the smooth delivery of goods – from medical supplies to catering. However, it is precisely these logistical processes that pose considerable challenges: structure-borne noise and vibrations from delivery vehicles and roll containers can spread uncontrollably throughout the building structure. This poses a major conflict, especially in a hospital with sensitive medical technology and high requirements for quiet.
For the new Ersta Sjukhus, the task was therefore to develop an effective solution for decoupling the delivery zone from the rest of the building, thus creating a disturbance-free environment for patients and staff.

Highly elastic PUR elastomers for decoupling the delivery zone
The decision was made to use REGUFOAM vibration 300plus and REGUFOAM vibration 510plus. These high-performance, highly elastic PUR elastomers were specifically installed in the delivery zone. Thanks to their outstanding vibration control properties, they enable effective decoupling of floor-bound structures, thus preventing the transmission of disruptive vibrations and structure-borne noise into the clinic's operations.
Professional planning and expert installation of the REGUFOAM vibration products made a significant contribution to the acoustic quality of the new building. Despite the intensive use of the delivery zone, interference-free use of the rest of the building is guaranteed.
