Elastic building support with REGUPOL vibration in the Kupa district
On the former site of the envelope factory in Munich-Pasing, the kupa Quartier has been developed into a diverse residential and commercial complex in a central location with direct access to public transport. One part of the building (House C) is located in the immediate vicinity of the S-Bahn line. Without suitable acoustic measures, vibrations and the resulting structure-borne noise would have been transmitted into the building unhindered. In order to guarantee residents and users a high standard of acoustics and living hygiene, a comprehensive vibration protection concept was implemented, the core of which is elastic building support.
REGUPOL vibration products were used as elastic bearings – recycled insulation materials consisting of over 90% recovered elastomers (end-of-life tyres). The permanently elastic material was used across the entire surface under the floor slab and on rising walls. This provides effective vertical and horizontal decoupling of the entire building complex from adjacent sources of noise and vibration. This ensures quiet interiors and is therefore a decisive factor for the quality of living and recreation in a dense urban environment.
Recycled elastomers save primary materials and CO₂ emissions
In addition to its acoustic and mechanical effectiveness, the REGUPOL vibration range is characterised by an excellent ecological balance. The use of recycled elastomers saves primary raw materials and CO₂ emissions and actively contributes to the circular economy. REGUPOL vibration products have an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) and are Cradle to Cradle Bronze certified, which documents the transparency of their environmental impact and facilitates integration into various sustainability certifications.
Another added value lies in the long-term durability of the material: its elastic properties remain stable for decades, providing the building structure with lasting protection against vibrations. The material properties have been reliably proven by long-term forecasts and repeated measurements of comparable building bearings over decades.
The high quality of the overall project was confirmed with the ICONIC AWARD 2021 in the Innovative Architecture category. The award was given for the forward-looking residential and commercial quarter, which is characterised by flexible floor plans and amenities for families.
Elastic building support with REGUPOL vibration enables comfortable living in central locations, reduces the ecological footprint of construction and sends a clear signal for resource conservation from the ground up.
